Black Swallowtail, Great Blue Heron, Osprey August 15, 2010

Today Frank and I took a trip to an osprey nest. We were thrilled to see one in the nest. He quickly flew off and went to the fields where the adults were. The second nest had one in the nest but when a Great Blue Heron tried to join him in th nest he also flew away. The fields were full of Great Blue Herons and some were even in the rookery nests. The Black Swallowtail was dancing around the plants. First time I have seen one.

  2. Karen: My friend and I were about to give up as the baby was laying down in the nest . I tried to convince the baseball guys to hit fish instead of balls - no luck. He flew back and forth and then totally left. I use a 400 lens and yes it helps get up and personal with everything. Thanks Karen.
