Peregrine Falcon - Quest in flight April 29 2011

I started my holidays today and decided to take a short visit to see how Quest and Kendall are doing. On arrival they were both very busy mating. Kendal then flew to the nest so that Quest could enjoy the day. It was pouring rain then snow then rain again. Hey Janice doesn't that sound like Algonquin Park. I hope you enjoy the photos. Ruby Throated Male Hummingbirds, Rose Breasted Grosbeaks

White Throated Sparrow

Female Cardinal

April 27 I had a male and female Rose-Breasted Grosbeak and 2 Purple Finch but today at 6;30pm my ruby throated hummingbirds arrived. Two were at the back oriole feeder and one at the front hummingbird feeder. So get those feeders out.

Peregrine Falcons Quest and Kendall April 25, 2011

I was very fortunate to be invited to see the famous Harlequin pair of Peregrine Falcons. I have seen pictures in the Toronto Star and clips of them. Today some of the volunteers from the Canadian Peregrine Foundation were invited in to see the pair. Guests from the USA were also there. The staff at the Harlequin building were so accommodating to all of us. This is one fantastic story. Lets hope for success on the eggs. Quest is sitting on two with a potential of one more to come. Kendall is busy bringing in food.

Goslings and Mockingbirds April 25 2011

Two Mockingbirds were singing their hearts out at Bluffers Park.

Another Harlequin Romance took place with a family of geese. These are the first two goslings born. Three more eggs still to hatch. Oh honestly just too cute.

Great Horned Owl, Meadowlark, and lots more April 24 2011

Today I just drove around the usual spots. Found Murray at Thicksons Wood and we managed to see many birds plus the great horned owl. A bit quieter than I expected but still some nice finds. Bird of the day was the Meadowlark.

Bohemian Waxwings, Coyote and Osprey April 22, 2011

Carol and I went for a drive around the area. We were thrilled as we hit the backroad to see the trees filled with bohemian waxwings. The sound was incredible. Shortly after we saw a couple of pairs of osprey - the female was already on the nest. Male was buzzing around the area. Finally a coyote which thrilled Carol (her first sighting of a coyote). Coyote found a vole/mouse on the hill and ate it up then charged down the hill and away from sight.
