Hawk Watch at Rosetta - Fox, Raccoons and some great hawks Sept 30, 2009

Beautiful young fox

A couple of very fat raccoons

Northern Harrier

Turkey Vulture

Sharp Shinned Hawks

A great day at the watch today before and after work. They had over 700 hawks. I only saw about 50-60 but they were nice and low. Also a pair of raccoons arrived and Frank said all we need now is the fox and looked to the right and there he was.

Great fun.

New puppy Rory - 91/2 week old beagle

My husband and I went to whale watch in Tadoussac Quebec. Had a wonderful time watching (over 20)minke whales, (15)beluga whales (+one baby beluga) and (6)porpoises. We took a day trip on the whaling boats and spend time on the Whale route watching them from shore. Also spend time at the raptor watch in a couple of locations. Great fun. Only saw one shore bird and a few snow geese (plus one dark morph). It was a wonderful trip. Hundreds of photos. Will post some more later.

Osprey, Red Tails, Kestrels and a Merlin Hawk Watching Sept 9 2009 (double click to enlarge photos)

Today was a great day to go out and watch the hawks. The gang met at Rosetta to view over 50 hawks migrating. Highlight was a kestrel and Merlin playing - they dipped and dived around us almost hitting Walter. A red tail hawk came out of nowhere nice and low and many osprey flying by.
It was great fun watching them.

Here are few photos from today.
