Take time to visit the website and become a volunteer or sponsor the program. The rewards will fill you with joy and pride. Thanks Mark and Marion for you wonderful work.

Red Tailed Hawk March 15, 2010

Today at lunch I went into the woods to look for the red tailed hawk. I was leaning against a tree and the female landed just above me. She was busy pulling bark off the tree to put in the nest.

Short Eared Owls in the wild March 6, 2010

The highlight was seeing the short eared owl. We looked for quite a while to spot some and when we did we were truly rewarded by this beauty. In Fisherville we saw more than 7 of them. This was not part of the course this was the old fashion look and find.

Fisherville - Short Eared Owls - March 6, 7,2010

Short Eared Owls - what a thrill - first time I have seen them in so many numbers and up close. The first time we saw them there were 7, second time 3 and last time 5
They were in the trees, flying, on the ground, all over the place. Totally amazing.

I am posting the flight shots first and hope to do the up close shots tomorrow.
