Northern Saw-whet Owl Release Oct 6 2012

Received a call at 5pm from Chris
 (Volunteer at theToronto Wildlife Centre)
saying she had a owl release and would l like
to join her.  I said where and when.
It was a beautiful Northern Saw-whet Owl who took a wrong turn
during migration.

Chris opened the box and away the owl flew

You can see his wings up in the air in the left corner.

The owl landed on a branch and we wished him well and left.
Look at those beautiful eyes.  A Saw whet Owl is the size of a box can.

Toronto Wildlife Centre thank you for taking caring for this Saw-whet Owl
Chris M. thank you for allowing me the honour of seeing the owl released.

WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

  3. Hi there. Just reading your great posting regarding the Northern Saw-Whet Owl. I was very interested in seeing your pictures of the release of the Saw-Whet Owl in Toronto a couple of weeks ago. Good to see that people are working hard to help save such beautiful birds! I also live in Toronto, and this past Friday, my wife and I came upon an adult Saw-Whet Owl out in one of Toronto's northern parks. This was the first time as birders that we had ever seen a Saw-Whet Owl. Fortunately, we had our camera with us and got some good pictures and video. We have posted them for anyone interested at: http://frametoframe.ca/photo-essay-northern-saw-whet-owl-sighting
