Limpkin
The Limpkin, Aramus guarauna, is a bird that looks like a large rail but is skeletally closer to cranes. Thanks to our guide Kathryn we saw two limpkin in a tree, a juvenile in the marsh and two more adults on the canal. This is a lifer for me as well.

| On our trip to Florida one of my main birds I really wanted to see was a Northern Crested Caracara. Donna, Janet and I were thrilled to see one at Viera Wetlands. Our guide Kathryn Dow had great eyes and spotted it from a back road. Following his flight we were so fortunate to see him land on the mount by the heron rookery. A few shots of this amazing bird. |

| Last year we had a pair of screech owls nesting in the box. This year Nov came and went and figured they were gone. On Feb 8, 2014 I looked out and was surprised to see the owl head out of the box. Welcome back |

| Thanks to the wonderful staff of Toronto Wildlife centre this beautiful Snowy Owl was released back in the wild. He was found in a sewage treatment plant. Rescued, given numerous baths to clean up the dirt, then watched carefully. Thankfully he was able to be released today. All photos taken by Donna Hayes. Thank you TWC for your great work. |
