Baby trying to get on the moms back
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ENLARGE THESE PHOTOS TO SEE CHICKS

One under her wings and one sitting behind

 bath time for dad

Again dad feeding young chick on nest
Enlarge this photos so you can see the one baby at moms neck on the nest and dad coming in with food for second chick

Donna H and I sat on the rocks at the harbour watching in amazement at the family of Red-necked Grebes.  There were two young grebes.
The female sat on the nest the whole time and the male was busy finding food for young.

 Both chicks

Stetch for mom

  1. Hi Ann,

My boyfriend and I take photos of these same grebes. We counted nine eggs. When we went recently we saw them all cracked and no sign of the other young. Do you know if something happened? We were very worried, didn't see both mates either- only one with the two young.

    You have beautiful pics!
    Animals are amazing.
