White Pelicans on Boat Trip - Florida Jan 2013
Hard to believe I was excited to see one pelican in Oshawa that was so far away I could barely see him even with a 80% crop. In Florida they are everywhere. I know Donna you told me that but until you see them with your own eyes you just can't imagine.
White Ibis - juvenile - Florida Jan 2013
So many amazing birds. It is where do you start. Here are a few Juvenile White Ibis. On my last day there we had adult White Ibis right in front of us with beautiful reflections.
Snowy Egret - with golden slippers Florida Jan 2013
Hunting in the marsh
Snowy Egrets - a small egret with beautiful golden slippers. Saw my first one two years ago at Point Pelee. They were everywhere in Florida.
Royal Tern in Florida Jan 2013
Another lifer for me was the Royal Tern. Thank goodness Donna knew these birds because they were all new to me. Love the hairdo on this bird.
Saw them on the beach and also the boat trip.
Osprey Dive Dive Dive - Fishing Florida Jan 2013
Osprey are seen during the spring and summer by the lakes of the Kwarthas but what I saw in Florida was wild. While on the boat cruise we saw between 1-15 osprey fishing in one area with dolphins and royal terns. It was wild watching them hover then dive dive dive in the water. I took some photos of the diving but we were some distance away. But check out the shape of the osprey in diving mode.
this is the series of diving shots. I love the them.
Someone thought this was a frog before reading the caption. WILD
Manatee drinking from water fountain Florida
When I booked our boat trip I was told the manatees would have already left for warmer climates. Well what a surprise to see in the channel two manatees drinking from a fountain.
