Great Horned Owl Release May 2013

With thanks to the Owl Foundation who saved this beautiful Great Horned Owl. I was able to release him in the location where he was found. Bowmanville. Thanks to my buddy Carol for helping me with the pick up and release of the owl. To Janice Hill and her beautiful daughter Kristen Cornell for taking the release and first flight shots. Carol and I were on our way to pick up some Owls that needed to be released back in the wild. We stopped at the Burlington Bridge and were very thrilled to see the Black Crowned Night Herons.

Barred Owl Release in Barrie May 9 2013

I was very fortunate to be able to release a Barred Owl on behalf of the The Owl Foundation. My buddy Jen Howard joined me on the adventure. It was a perfect release. Opened the box and the owl flew and landed on a dead tree. It flew to a higher branch within minutes and then was gone out of sight within minutes. The location was perfect as no one was there and it was filled with thousands of black flies and hundreds of trilliums surround us. A pair of Great Horned Owlettes - what a thrill to see them.

I was walking down a trail when I looked up and saw 4 eyes. OMG they are so cute. The female adult flew behind the owlettes as I watched. Only stayed a few minutes but I hope to see them again.
